Concert Bands: 2007-2008

University High School Wind Ensemble

• Florida Bandmasters Association District VIII High School Concert Band Music Performance Assessment: Straight Superior Ratings
• Florida Bandmasters Association State High School Concert Band Music Performance Assessment: Straight Superior Ratings
• 2007-2008 Otto J. Kraushaar Award Recipient (Awarded to select few bands for Straight Superior Ratings at Marching, District, and State Music Performance Assessments)
• Feature Band at the University of Florida Concert Band Invitational
• Of the 32 bands at District VIII Concert Band Music Performance Assessment, the University Wind Ensemble was one of 7 bands to receive Straight Superior Ratings.

University High School Symphonic Band

• Florida Bandmasters Association District VIII High School Concert Band Music Performance Assessment: Straight Superior Ratings
• The University Symphonic Band was the ONLY 2nd Concert Band that received a superior rating at the District VIII Concert Band Music Performance Assessment.
• Of the 32 bands at District VIII Concert Band Music Performance Assessment, the University Symphonic Band was one of 7 bands to receive Straight Superior Ratings.

University High School Freshman Band

• Florida Bandmasters Association District VIII High School Concert Band Music Performance Assessment: Straight Excellent Ratings

The University High School Concert Band Program earned two of the seven Straight Superior Ratings at District VIII High School Concert Band Music Performance Assessment. There were only five other bands in the entire county that earned a Straight Superior distinction.

• Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit Championships: Scholastic A Class, Shaktai Division, Gold Medalist (1st Place)
• Winter Guard International World Championships: Scholastic A Class Finalists (12th Place)

• Winter Springs Competition: 2nd Place, Scholastic A Class
• Fleming Island Competition: 3rd Place, Scholastic A Class

• Central Florida Marching Arts Festival - Grand Champion; with awards for Best Brass, Best Woodwinds, Best Percussion, Best Guard, Best Drum Majors, and Highest General Effect
• Colonial Grenadier Invitational - Grand Champion; with awards for Best Brass, Best Woodwinds, Best Percussion, Best Guard, Best Drum Majors, and Highest General Effect
• Florida Bandmasters Association District VIII Marching Band Music Performance Assessment - Straight Superiors
• Florida Marching Band Coalition State Marching Band Championships - Eighth Place Overall

• Jazz Band - Five students selected to the All-County Jazz Band
• Concert Band - Eight students selected to the 9/10 All-County Concert Band
• Symphonic Band - Ten students selected to the 11/12 All-County Symphonic Band

Florida Music Educator's Association All-State Festival: 2007-2008

• FMEA 11/12 All-State Band - Tim Shea selected to participate
• FMEA 11/12 All-State Orchestra - William Llarch selected to participate
• FMEA 9/10 All-State Band - Johnathan Baldon selected to participate

Solo & Ensemble: 2007-2008

• Florida Bandmasters Association District VIII Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Assessment - 155 students participated with 82 students receiving a rating of Superior, 73 students receiving a rating of Excellent
• • Florida Bandmasters Association State Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Assessment - 56 students participated with 24 students receiving a rating of Superior and 32 students receiving a rating of Excellent

Jazz Band: 2007-2008

• Florida Bandmasters Association District VIII Music Performance Assessment: Jazz 1 received an overall Superior Rating and Jazz 2 received an overall Excellent Rating
• Florida Bandmasters Association State Music Performance Assessment: Jazz 1 received an overall Excellent Rating

University High School Band Program Performances 2008-2009

• Fall Concert featuring the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band 1, Jazz Band 2, Percussion Ensemble 1, and Percussion Ensemble 2.
• Winter Concert featuring the Freshmen Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz 1, Jazz 2, Percussion Ensemble 1, and Percussion Ensemble 2.
• The Marching Band was the featured half time performance at the Pop Warner Superbowl at the Disney Wide World Sports Complex.
• The Jazz Band 1 performed for guests at the University High School Teach In.
• The Jazz Band 1 performed 2 Holiday Concerts at Downtown Disney in December.
• The Marching Band performed at all of the Football games during the season.
• The Marching Band performed at the Central Florida Marching Arts Festival in Leesburg.
• The Marching Band performed at the Colonial Grenadier Invitational in Orlando.
• The Marching Band performed at the Florida Bandmasters Association District VIII Marching Band Music Performance Assessment.
• The Marching Band performed at the Florida Marching Band Coalition State Marching Band Championships.
• The Marching Band was a featured performer for the Disney Half Marathon and the Disney Full Marathon.

• The band had over 20 different Solo & Small Ensemble performances at the Florida Bandmasters Association State Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Assessment.
• Jazz Band 1 performed at the Florida Bandmasters Association State Music Performance Assessment.
• The Wind Ensemble performed at the University of Florida Concert Band Invitational.
• Members of the University H.S. Percussion Ensemble performed in the Percussive Arts Society Florida Day of Percussion as members of the Orange County All Star Percussion Ensemble with Special Guest Recording Artist Gregg Bissonette.
• The Wind Ensemble Performed at the Florida Bandmasters Association State High School Concert Band Music Performance Assessment.
• Jazz Band 1 and Jazz Band 2 performed for the University High School Freshmen Orientations
• Members of the Band performed in the Pit Orchestra in the Performing Arts Department’s spring musical production “Miss Saigon”.
• Jazz Band 1 and Jazz Band 2 performed in the “Evening of Jazz” Concert celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month with Special Guest Recording Artist Jeff Rupert.
• The Percussion Ensembles performed in concert in the “Evening of Percussion” Concert.

• The University Drumline “University Percussion Syndicate” Performed for the UHS Senior’s Last Day Celebration.
