May 28
Dear Cougars,
This will be the final weekly update for the 2007-2008 University Band Season. The next update will be summer information to start up the 2008-2009 Season!
Seniors:
This will be your last weekly update from the University Band.
Thanks for your time and service to the University Band.
We will be cheering you on at graduation on Friday.
Best of luck – kudos to whatever the future brings! Remember, you’ll never walk alone!
Congratulations 2008-2009 Officers:
Captains will receive their first assignment on Thursday, May 28.
They will be contacting all incoming freshmen throughout the weekend.
Phone calls will have to be completed by Monday, June 2nd and turned in to Mr. Obado.
We will have our first officer meeting on Tuesday, June 3rd after exams.
Bring lunch or money for a pizza order!
If you are bringing money for pizza, please bring it to one of the directors before school on Tuesday, June 3rd.
Congratulations 2008-2009 Wind Ensemble:
The members of the 2008-2009 Wind Ensemble are posted in both campus band rooms.
Their first rehearsal will be on Thursday, May 29 in the main campus band room from 2:30-3:30pm.
Their first performance will be at Graduation on Friday, May 30th.
Graduation Band Information
The graduation band will consist of the 2008-2009 Wind Ensemble.
They are to be dressed in all black by 6th Period on Friday, May 30th.
Because there is no transportation available, all members will have to secure transportation to the new UCF Arena during 6th Period.
Students need to car pool with each other (through parents or other students).
BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT AND MUSIC STANDS!
Directions to the New Arena:
- Enter UCF from Gemini Blvd
- Turn left on West Plaza Blvd (or East Plaza Blvd if you miss that street)
- Continue on West (or East Plaza) until it loops around Parking Garage F
- Park in Garage “F” – your school ID will get you in for free. Otherwise, they will charge you $5.
Park on the side closest to East Plaza – on the side where the new football stadium is located.
- Enter the arena on the Gate “C” side (this is the side next to the new football stadium).
Enter the doorway marked “50”. If you can’t find this, enter in Gate C – it will take you to the same place.
- The graduation band will be seated directly to the right of the stage.
- Even though graduation will begin at 3:00pm, you must leave UHS during 6th Period.
You will be VERY early, but we are expecting 7,000 guests and traffic will be a nightmare!
- Return music stands / instruments to the band room as soon as graduation is over.
Fundraising, Fundraising, Fundraising!!!
You can raise most, if not all of your 2008-2009 Band Assessments this summer.
There is a car wash held EVERY WEEKEND!
There was a car wash held by another school last weekend that took in $800.
If 20 kids helped out at that car wash, every student made $40 from that one event.
Click here for all the dates and information.
We will be kicking off our fundraising ads at our mini-camp next week.
If you would like to get a head start, last year’s form can be found
here
(the prices will remain the same on the new form).
Mini-Camp NEXT WEEK!
We will have our required mini-camp next week (June 5-6) from 8am-4pm.
All students are required to be present.
Please do not forget the following:
