Dear Cougars,

We officially kick off our 2008-2009 season TOMORROW with our two day Mini-Camp! The Mini-Camp will run on Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6 from 8:00am-4:00pm. These two days will orient new and returning band members to the new band season as well as teach basic marching fundamentals and introduce the music for the marching season. The Mini-Camp is a required event. If there are any conflicts, please do not hesitate to contact me at philip.obado@ocps.net to work out the conflict.

Please meet in the main campus band room at 8:00am and bring the following:

• $50 Band Camp Assessment
• Percussion/Guard Assessments
• Band Camp Essentials (click for details)
• WATER!!!
• HAT!!!
• SUNSCREEN!!!
• LUNCH!!! (Students will not be allowed to leave campus)

We will be discussing financial matters at 3:45pm on Thursday to the entire band program. We ALWAYS stress to students and parents that they should not let the band assessments detract students from being in band. We would like each and every student to participate in fundraising projects to earn the funds necessary to cover the band assessments. The band directors ALWAYS work with every financial situation so anyone can participate. In fact, there is a car-wash held almost every weekend this summer for students to earn money in their financial ledgers. Check www.uhsband.com to sign up. We will also kick-off our first fundraiser tomorrow: Ad Sales. Students can pay off their entire band assessment just by selling ads around the community.
