The award winning University High School Cougar Band and Guard is asking for your support. The band program at University High School is recognized as one of the finest musical programs in Central Florida, having won numerous competitions, awards, and honors. During the 2005-2006 school year, the University High School Band Program was awarded the Otto J. Kraushaar award for receiving straight superior ratings at state music festivals. This is the sixth straight Otto J. Kraushaar award received by University High School. The Marching Cougar Band and Guard also received superior ratings at all marching festivals for the past several school years.

At University High School, the Cougar Band and Guard is truly a ‘family’. Students continually put forth a group effort and focus on completing goals and surpassing expectations at every rehearsal and performance. With continued growth, the University High School band program now includes over 200 students, making it one of the largest programs in Central Florida. With that amount of student participation, the operating expense for the UHS band is over $100,000 a year! Students’ assessments are a very small portion of the income that covers expenses along with very limited funding from the school. As the years pass, it has becomes increasingly difficult for the band program to afford simple things that would allow the organization to musically mature.

Please take the time to select a sponsorship level to help support the band program at University High School. With your help, the UHS band program can reach higher levels of education and performance as we continue to grow in the future. By doing so, you will be helping to provide young people with musical opportunities to engage their minds, hearts, and bodies.
