July 31, 2009 Greetings Cougar Band Family, It is that time again for Band Camp! We have a couple of reminders for you: 1. Band Camp Dates are Week 1 August 3-7, Week 2 August 10-13 from 9:00am-5:00pm AND Friday August 14 from 1:00pm-8:00pm. 2. We will have our Friends and Family premier show on Friday August 14th at 7:00pm. Please invite everyone you know. This will be in conjunction with our annual Band Camp BBQ which will be held at 5:00pm here at UHS in the main campus cafeteria and is available to everyone for $5.00 per person. We will have order forms available on the first day of Band Camp. 3. BIG Change this year!!! The school is providing food for us during band camp for free (the only exception is the BBQ on Friday the 14th). Starting at 8:30am in the main campus cafeteria they will serve breakfast items and at 12:30pm they will serve us lunch. This is great news since it will now provide everyone with the opportunity to get a good breakfast before each band camp day starts as well as saving the band about $6000 which is what we spent on lunches in the past. This also now puts about $50 back into your pocket that you spent on those lunches in the past. May I suggest taking that money and start paying your band fees with it. :) 4. Your Band camp assessment is due on Monday August 3rd and is for $50. 5. Please make sure you wear comfortable attire, specifically shorts, t-shirt, tennis shoes, and a hat. Please also remember to bring sun screen and a large water bottle. 6. Do not forget your instrument. 7. We will be sizing for band shoes on Monday. You will get more information then. 8. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Brown to our Cougar Band Family. Mr. Brown is our new Associate Director and comes to us from the Florida State University (and of course he would have to be a trombone player as well!) He comes to us with a great amount of knowledge and expierence and will be a great asset to us here. I also happen to know that he had an amazing band director in high school for him to look up to! We look forward to seeing you all on Monday. Come ready to have fun, work, and start a great year off here at the U.
